Finding 01
Most clients rate the work 5★. Most of the work won't rank.
A 5★ on Airtasker means the brief was met and the Tasker was friendly. It doesn't mean Google can find the site, the logo works on a vehicle wrap, or the SEO moved a single keyword. The ratings measure the wrong thing for anyone whose business depends on the result.
Finding 02
The cheapest jobs are often the most appropriate.
A $165 one-pager for a café with strong walk-by trade is a great outcome. A $380 healthcare clinic site that fails YMYL standards is not. The platform works best when the brief honestly fits a single task, and worst when business-critical work gets squeezed into one.
Finding 03
Indexation issues are the most common silent failure.
I keep finding sites that shipped with accidental noindex directives, blocked robots.txt entries, or platforms that hide schema. The client never notices — no rankings to lose, no traffic to miss. The site just doesn't exist on Google.
Finding 04
There's a tier between Airtasker and a $40k agency that nobody talks about.
Airtasker tops out near $1,000 for serious web work. The next visible option is the $20–$40k agency. The middle tier — fixed-price, fast, strategic, no marketplace fee — is where most small businesses actually need to be. That's where I sit.

Wait — are you actually on Airtasker?
Yes. I bid on web design, SEO, and brand jobs through the platform. That's why I see what gets posted, who wins, and how the resulting sites perform. If you'd rather hire me through Airtasker, you can — I'll just be one of the bids you receive. But you'll pay the platform fee on top, and you'll have to wade through everyone else's bids first. Quoting direct skips both.
How much do I save by quoting direct?
Airtasker charges clients a booking/service fee on the winning bid (typically a few percent), and takes a commission from the Tasker on top (more substantial). When you quote me direct, both fees disappear. You usually pay 5–15% less for the same scope, and I keep more of the work — which is why direct quotes get faster turnarounds and more attention.
Is this allowed? Are you breaking Airtasker's rules?
No. Airtasker's terms cover what happens once you've hired a Tasker through the platform — Taskers can't poach clients off-platform after a job. This page does the opposite: it tells customers who haven't posted yet that there's a direct option. Standard competitive marketing. Airtasker has its own ads competing for the same searches — this is just the inverse.
Is Airtasker any good for web design, SEO, or logo design?
Sometimes. The platform works well on jobs that genuinely fit a single-task scope — a one-page promo, a plugin install, a hobby-tier logo, a bug fix. It works poorly on anything that needs strategic judgement, ranking outcomes, or technical depth that the average winning bid (under $1,000) can't economically support. Because thousands of small businesses search Airtasker every month for web design, SEO, and brand work — and the only voices in that conversation are Airtasker, freelancer directories, and other marketplaces. I build sites and rank them in Google for a living. Publishing the honest comparison was the obvious move. Being on the platform myself means I can write it from the inside.
